AN UNKNOWN MAN WEARING MILITARY UNIFORM HAS BEATEN A BUS CONDUCTOR TO
DEATH AT OBALENDE, LAGOS, IN THE MORNING OF DECEMBER 30, 2013, MONDAY.
According to the source, the attacker dressed in a Nigeria Army uniform
pounced on the deceased (names unknown) following a heated argument
over transport fare.
An eyewitnesses narrated that the man had accompanied his wife to the
park at Obalende to get a bus to her destination. The late conductor
and the woman started a heated argument over transport fare.
'That made the uniformed man to react. He lost his temper and kept
beating the guy, until he died,' the witness said.
The army man was said to have dragged the deceased, raining blows on
his head, stomach and chest.
On noticing the conductor had given up the ghost, the officer pulled
off his uniform and ran towards some uniformed men, who were around
the scene in a vehicle.
The group escaped, leaving the dying man at the park.
The incident caused confusion and anger, and almost escalated into a
protest by other transporters. However, a team of anti-riot police
quickly appeared at the scene of the crime to cool down the situation.
It has been further learnt that the driver of the bus, alongside
sympathisers, drove his late colleague to Dodan Barracks to report the
matter.
