Cynthia murder trial: the suspects have raped and drugged other girls

A Lagos High Court, Igbosere, yesterday heard that the alleged murderers of Facebook lover, Cynthia Osokogu had it all planned few days before she was killed.

A Lagos High Court, Igbosere, was told yesterday that Cynthia Osokogu killers had planned her murder a couple of days before the incident and it wasn't an accident.

The prosecution witness, Joseph Edo explained How Olisaeloka Ezike (second defendant) went to Agboju Market for Okumo Nwabufo (first defendant) and purchased chain and celotape, which they used in 'killing' Cynthia.

State Attorney General, Ade Ipaye, Edo told the court:that "it is the defendants' stock-in-trade to invite women to hotels, drug and rape them".

"From my investigation, I discovered that the first defendant sent the second defendant to Agboju Market to buy the instruments they used for the operation-Chain and Celotape- few days before Cynthia was killed.

"The second defendant (Ezike) after getting the items and while still at the market, used his phone to snap them and forwarded the picture to the first defendant (Nwabufo).

"He equally sent Nwabufo a text message from his phone asking if "this was the chain and celotape you asked me to buy?". "Nwabufo replied Ezike that it will be okay for the job.

The messages are all in their phones," Edo said. Continuing, the witness told the court that he also discovered that the third defendant, Orji Osita, who is a pharmacist, aided the primary suspects to commit the crime by supplying them the Rohypnol used in subduing the deceased before they carried out the killing.

He said the fourth defendant, Nonso Ezike dishonestly received Cynthia's Blackberry phone from his elder brother who is the second defendant.

"It was discovered that it was not the first phone he (Nonso) bought from the second defendant and he has knowledge of the first and second defendants stock-in-trade.

"They specialise in bringing in ladies into hotel room, enticing them with one or two things and then rape them," Edo said.

Soldiers run for their lives as Boko haram attacks in 13 hilux vans convoy in adamawa state.

The statement made by the Governor of Borno, Kashim Shettima seems to have been proven true after soldiers in Adamawa reportedly took to their heels on sighting a convoy of Boko Haram insurgents.

Governor Shettima said earlier in the week that the members of the militant group were better armed and better motivated than officers of the Nigerian army.

The attack on Adamawa, which came closely behind the Yobe college massacre, resulted in massive loss of life and property as people were killed and maimed and buildings were burnt.

The Tribune reports:

The unknown gunmen first struck the border village of Kirchinga in Madagali Local Government at about 8:30pm where they set houses ablaze before proceeding to Shuwa where they killed eleven persons.

Eye witness account at the village said immediately the gunmen attacked Kirchinga, many of the residents fled to Shuwa for safety but the gunmen  went on their trail and pursued them up to Shuwa where they killed eleven people.

It was also gathered that the attackers were undaunting as they came into the town in a convoy of 13 Hilux pick up vans shooting sporadically as people scampered in different directions for safety.

The source maintained that the military personnel manning different check points in the area beat a retreat as the gunmen had a field day as they laid siege on the border villages for more than five hours.

A resident of Shuwa, Mr Kwaje Bitrus, said "the gunmen launched attack on many places in Shuwa including a Bishop's House, Theological School, police station as well as houses of prominent people in the town leading to the death of two people."

The Chairman of Madagali Local Government Mr. Maina Ularamu confirmed the incident.

A pastor who preferred anonymity, said the gunmen destroyed three banks and many shops in the town while four  lives were lost in the attack which lasted throughout the night.

"When the soldiers at the military check points saw the number of the attackers, they retreated into the nearby bushes as the gunmen operated without challenge during the operation that lasted throughout the night," he said.

When contacted, the member representing Michika Local Government in Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Adamu Kamale, also confirmed the attack on Michika.

Similarly, the Army Public Relations Officer of the 23rd Armoured Brigade Captain Jafaru Nuhu confirmed the incident but could not ascertain the number of casualties.

Parents Jailed for cutting sons 10 fingers for stealing...

A Ghanaian father and mother have been sentenced to spend 6 months in prison after they were found guilty of assault on their son.

Morrison Adenkor and Angelina Adeti were said to have cut the fingertips of their 10-year-old child because he stole meat and coins. The couple was found guilty of causing harm and were indicted for violating the child's rights.

According to reports:

However, in delivering her judgement, the court took into account factors, including the nature of the crime, the circumstances of the accused persons and the fact that they were first-time offenders.

Sentencing the accused persons – Morrison Adenkor and Angelina Adeti – the presiding judge, Ms Ellen Vivian Amoah, warned that the court would not sit aloof while the rights of children were trampled upon. The court found their action repugnant and a gross violation of the 1992 Constitution and all international conventions Ghana has ratified to protect and safeguard the interest of children.

"What type of parents do this kind of thing to their child of 10 years who is supposed to look up to them. Secondly, what has become the norm in our society where adults and society in general cherishes children? What could enter the mind of a father to cut open all the 10 fingers of his son with the tacit consent of the mother?"

"We have to bear in mind that we owe rights and obligations to the most vulnerable members of our society, that is the children", Ms Amoah said.

How I saw my classmates butchered! 14 year old yobe massacre survivor narrates his ordeal.

A 14-year-old, JSS 2 student of Federal Government College, FGC, Bunu Yadi, Ibrahim Musa Lampo, who survived the horrific Boko Haram massacre on Tuesday which claimed the lives of 43 students, narrated his ordeal and how his school mates were gunned down y the insurgents.

Lampo who was shot in the leg and sustained few injuries in the attack said:

"I was shot on my left leg, while I was sleeping.  When I woke up, I could not walk and was later taken to the girls hostel where the insurgents gathered us with the female students. They selected some of the female students and went away with them, while they left some of us groaning in pain from gun shot".

The insurgents burnt down hostels, classrooms and more than 40 houses during the attack.

Vanguard reports:

Ibrahim who recounted his experience while groaning in pains was receiving treatment for gunshot injuries at the General Sani Abacha Specialist Hospital, Damaturu.

His mother, Hajiya Hauwa Lampo, who was sitting beside him on the hospital bed lamented the inability of government to protect the lives of the innocent students.

The mother passionately appealed to the Federal Government to "provide adequate security for all unity schools in Nigeria, particularly in the north eastern region of the country by constructing a fence that will shield the students from intruders. And if the government can not deploy adequate security personnel, they should despatch sniffer dogs into the schools to patrol every nook and corner and this will go a long way in curbing the insurgency."

Ibrahim's father, Mallam Musa Lampo, an immigration officer was still in shock over the incident and simply said: "I have committed everything into the hands of God."

Blackberry is set to maintain their stand in the technology market by releasing a brand new type of smartphone. This announcement was made at the MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2014.
The blackberry Z3 is equipped with all the features of the OS 10.2.1, as well as a 5"display screen. It is powered by a 1.2GHZ dual core snapdragon 400 chipset, and has a 1.5 GB internal ram s[pace. The internal storage has an eight GB capacity. With an awesome 5MP back camera, and 1.1MP front camera, it also has an FM radio facility.
The phone is set to be released in April and should be affordable as it should cost less than 34000 naira.

Bible saves bus driver shot twice in the chest.

A bus driver in Dayton, Ohio, who was shot twice in the chest at
point-blank range, was saved by his Bible, reports KTLA.

Rickey Waggoner, 49, who was also shot a third time in his leg while
standing next to his bus, was the suspected target of a gang
initiation. According to police, the two bullets aimed at Waggoner's chest were
stopped by the New Testament Bible he carried in his shirt pocket. Waggoner had pulled his public transit bus onto the side of the road
after it stopped running, police said.
